After his apprenticeship in carpentry, Ferdinand studied design at the FH Potsdam. In addition to posing philosophical questions, his work reflects an understanding of form and material. Ferdinand has worked with participatory design approaches since a joint project with Isabelle Dechamps (Be Able founder) in Bangladesh, and oversees Be Able creative design processes as well as business projects.
During Be Able's 2012 "Handdenker" (Hand Thinker) Project, he worked alongside participants from Via carpentry workshop to develop Be Able's first, and award-winning, wooden products.
